Score prediction: Burnley 1 Wolves 1

A colossal battle will take place in Lancashire on Friday night as Burnley, who have hit form following the international break, host play-off-chasing Wolves (kick-off 8pm BST).

The game is a curtain-raiser to another weekend of enthralling action in the Championship.

Both sides will be looking to return to winning ways following the Clarets’ 2-2 draw with Charlton Athletic and Wolves’ 3-1 defeat on home soil to Bolton Wanderers.

The Clarets have gained an impressive four points from a possible six in the last two matches.

It was almost maximum points, if not for Ivan Mesík’s injury-time equaliser on Tuesday evening in the 2-2 draw with the Addicks.

Wolves suffered their second loss in a week in midweek, as César Peixoto’s side also lost to Middlesbrough last Saturday, albeit 1-0, alongside that loss to Wanderers.

The Molineux outfit will be hoping to halt the slide and return to winning ways.

Players to watch

This fixture has several key men to watch, including former England international Jamie Vardy who had a goal disallowed in last week’s 4-0 rout of Watford.

That victory was Burnley’s first win in over 240 days and Vardy will be hoping to have a positive impact against Wolves.

Vardy got his full debut in the draw with Charlton Athletic, which should have boosted the 39-year-old’s confidence, and his experience could prove invaluable in this match.

Lucas Pires and Zeki Amdouni could also have an impact, with the pair having three goals and three assists respectively.

Keeper Grégoire Coudert could also prove pivotal.

The 27-year-old has played the last three matches and is looking to cement the position following the dropping of German Max Weiss, who started the season as the number one.

For Wolves, Fer López has hit the back of the net four times, whilst former Fulham forward Raul Jiménez has a trio of goals.

Experienced stopper José Sá will be hoping to help his side to a win as he looks to regain his form.

He has conceded four in the last two, following his last clean sheet in their last win against West Brom in Wolves’ 1-0 derby day victory.

Creative midfielder Jordan James could also prove key as he looks to pull the strings in midfield for Wanderers.

Despite being just 22 years of age, James has played over 150 club games.

Head-to-head

In previous meetings, Burnley have won seven, with the same number of draws between the two sides. Wolves have won three.

At Turf Moor back in May, in the Premier League, the game ended 1-1. The clash at Molineux, back in October, resulted in a 3-2 victory for the Clarets.
