Score prediction: West Ham 2-1 QPR

West Ham United take on Queens Park Rangers at the London Stadium on Friday night in what should be a closely-contested London derby.

The Hammers have made a good start to life in the Championship and currently sit second in the table after eight games.

QPR have also started the season well and are sixth, so this should be a competitive game between two sides looking to stay near the top of the table.

Kick-off is at 8pm on Friday, with West Ham going into the match as favourites.

West Ham form

West Ham have looked strong so far this season, especially going forward.

They have scored 22 goals in their first eight league games, which is the highest total in the Championship.

They have only lost once, against Charlton, and have since put together a six-game unbeaten run.

Their most recent game was a 2-2 draw against Millwall, where they came from two goals behind to get a point.

Although dropping two points will have been disappointing, the comeback showed that West Ham have the character to get back into games.

One player who has stood out is captain Jarrod Bowen.

He has scored four goals and provided three assists in the Championship so far, making him one of the main players QPR will need to keep an eye on.

West Ham will also be hoping to have Tomas Soucek available again after he returned to action in a behind-closed-doors friendly during the international break.

QPR threats

Despite being the away team, QPR will go into this match with some confidence.

They have lost just one of their eight league matches and currently sit sixth.

They have also been difficult to beat away from home, which could make this a tougher game for West Ham than some people might expect.

QPR’s last three Championship matches have all ended in draws, including a 2-2 draw against Preston in their most recent game.

Their main strength has been their defence, which will be tested by a West Ham attack that has scored more goals than any other team in the division.

QPR will probably be happy to keep the game tight and try to frustrate West Ham. If they can stay in the game for a long time, they could have a good chance of getting something from it.

Team news

West Ham will be without Mohamadou Kanté, who is suspended after being sent off against Millwall.

There are also some fitness doubts, including Joel Veltman.

Tomas Soucek could be involved after returning from injury, although it is not certain whether he will start.

QPR have their own problems. Dennis Cirkin is suspended after his red card against Preston, while Tariq Lamptey, Richard Kone, Ilias Chair, Boy Kemper and Karamoko Dembele are all doubts.

Predicted West Ham line-up

Hermansen; Walker-Peters, Mavropanos, Kilman, Morato; Bowen, Mukasa, Engels, Austbø; Castellanos, Pablo

Predicted QPR line-up

Charles; Mbengue, Dunne, Edwards, Adamson; Varane, Kamara, Madsen, Poku; Saito, Burrell
